Some shopkeepers in Atonsu Agogo in the Asokwa Municipality of the Ashanti region, have protested against the Assembly for evicting them.

The aggrieved traders who ply their trade in front of the Atonsu Agogo Hospital say they have not been allocated a place to do their business, only to be told to evacuate the place.

The traders, numbering about 100, told Silver FM’s Akwadaa Nyame that they will have nowhere to trade if they are forcibly evicted without allocation.

Traders arrived on Tuesday morning to find the area they occupy crowded with security personnel from the Asokwa Municipal Assembly.

According to the vendors, the assembly’s preferred location is a swampy region teeming with reptiles and plants.

City guards have been stationed in the Atonsu Agogo Hospital where these traders ply to prevent traders from selling their items.

The Asokwa Municipal Assembly has pledged to continue its efforts by reserving space at the Kyirapatre lorry terminal for hawkers, but the traders are resolute.

They have, therefore, called on the Assembly to reconsider its decision, or they will not vote in the 2024 general election.
