The Transport Operators Association of Ghana has announced the suspension of a planned 15% increase in transport fares, originally set to take effect on November 2, 2024.
The decision comes after constructive discussions with the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU) and other key stakeholders to address operational cost challenges facing the transport sector.
Acknowledging the impact of rising fuel prices and other costs affecting transport service delivery, the Association reaffirmed its commitment to working with all parties involved to find a fair solution that supports both the industry and passengers.
In a statement, the Association extended its gratitude to passengers for their patience and understanding during this period.
“Updates will be provided following the conclusion of ongoing discussions,” the statement added, ensuring the public remains informed as talks progress.
