Two suspects have been arrested following a robbery attack at Adumasa in the Ashanti Region on Sunday, October 20, 2025, around 7:30 p.m.
According to the District Commander, Superintendent Teddy Brown, police received a distress call from a resident of Bomfa reporting an ongoing robbery at Adumasa. Upon receipt of the information, the District Commander, accompanied by ASP L. J. Kanton, the Konongo Divisional Taskforce, Konongo FPU, and the District Patrol Team, swiftly proceeded to the scene.
Preliminary investigations revealed that three armed men, riding on a motorbike and wielding various weapons, including an assault rifle numbered M47M16A2E, stormed the Adumasa Market and attacked Ebenezer Boampong Adubofour, a gold dealer. The robbers fired several gunshots, demanding that the victim hand over his gold and cash.
In the process, six persons — Deborah Augustina (28), a food vendor; Alhassan Iddrisu (29); Redford Osei Bright (28); Ebenezer Boampong Adubofour (35); Isaac Mensah (36); and Shadrach Marfo (23) — sustained gunshot injuries.
The robbers managed to flee with an unspecified quantity of gold and cash but were pursued by residents. They abandoned an assault rifle with four live rounds and a completely burnt motorbike before escaping into an unknown location.
Police, together with the Assembly Member for Adumasa, conducted a search in the area but could not locate the fleeing suspects.
The injured victims were rushed to the SDA Hospital at Nobewam and Konongo Government Hospital, where they are currently in stable condition receiving treatment.
The crime scene has been secured for further investigation, while efforts are underway to track down the remaining suspects.
