Two people are feared dead and several others injured following a multiple-vehicle accident at Krofrom in Kumasi.

The accident occurred on the Krofrom-Moro Market Road when a fully loaded DAF trailer reportedly suffered brake failure while descending a steep section of the road.

The trailer subsequently crashed into a “Pragyia” tricycle and several other vehicles, with eyewitnesses saying most of the victims were occupants of the tricycle and a motorbike caught up in the crash.

An eyewitness identified said the trailer lost control after its brakes reportedly failed, leaving the tricycle unable to escape.

According to him, the tricycle was trapped and dragged into a gutter, while other vehicles were also hit, with some reportedly crashing into nearby shops.

Several people sustained injuries in the accident, with emergency personnel working to rescue victims trapped in the wreckage.

Eyewitnesses have also raised concerns about the condition of the trailer’s tyres, questioning how the vehicle was allowed to operate on the road despite the alleged worn-out tyres.

Personnel from the Ghana Police Service, Ghana National Fire Service and other emergency agencies arrived at the scene to assist with rescue operations, attend to the injured and manage the situation.

The crash caused significant disruption along the busy Krofrom-Moro Market stretch.

The identities of the deceased and injured persons have not yet been officially confirmed.
