Two more suspects have been arrested in the ongoing investigations into the stolen funds from the residence of the former Sanitation Minister, Cecilia Abena Dapaah.
The arrest brings the total to seven accused persons involved in the crime, leading to a nationwide discussion of why the former minister had such a huge amount of money in her home.
In court on Wednesday, August 2, 2023, police prosecutor DSP Emmanuel Nyamekye revealed the arrest.
The accused persons were, however, not in court as the prosecutor explained that the investigators were in Tamale for further investigation.
On July 20, 2023, Five persons including two house helps of the former Minister appeared in court for allegedly stealing One million dollars, 300,000 euros and other expensive items valued at thousands of Ghana Cedis but one of the accused, Sarah Agyei, was granted bail to a sum of GH¢1 million due to her status as a nursing mother.
So far the remaining six including the two new arrested suspects are still in police custody.
The case has however been adjourned to August 8.
Meanwhile, Cecilia Dapaah is still being investigated by the Special Prosecutor as to how she had that amount in her home.
