The Accra Circuit Court 3, presided over by Her Honour Susana Eduful, has granted bail in the sum of GH¢150,000 each to two men accused of conspiracy to commit robbery, unlawful possession of firearms, and preparation to commit a crime.
The accused, 37-year-old Okada rider Mark Asare from Peki Tsibom, and 25-year-old driver Prince Worlanyo from Jasikan, both in the Volta Region, were arrested on September 11, 2025, at Pokuase in the Greater Accra Region. The two currently reside together in Pokuase.
They were apprehended by a patrol team from the Alpha SWAT Unit of the Regional Police Headquarters during a routine operation.
Prosecutor DSP Augustine Kinsley Oppong told the court that Asare was spotted behaving suspiciously near the Pokuase Timber Market.
A search conducted on him allegedly uncovered a locally manufactured pistol, two live BB cartridges, and a jack-knife. When questioned, Asare reportedly told police that the firearm and ammunition belonged to his co-tenant, Worlanyo. Police later arrested Worlanyo in the same area.
The two were subsequently handed over to the Regional CID, where further investigations were carried out before charges were preferred against them. Both pleaded not guilty to the charges.
As part of the bail conditions, the court ordered each accused person to present two sureties, who must justify the bail with property documents registered in their names. The original title deeds are to be deposited at the court registry.
The judge also instructed the prosecution to file all disclosures and witness statements in accordance with court practice.
The case has been adjourned to October 21, 2025, for continuation.
