Fire fighters from the Mpraeso Fire station spent hours in an effort to rescue to men shortly after their traveling vehicle veered off the road in between Abetifi and Abena-Kwahu in the East District andpplunged into a deadly ditch on Tuesday, October 21.
A rescue team led by Station Officer II Sanusi Issah arrived at the scene to find the driver trapped in the mangled car. After hours of intense effor, the firefighters managed to free the victim from the wreck. Both the driver and a passenger were handed over to the National Ambulance Service and taken to the Atibie Government Hospital for treatment.
According to preliminary investigations, the crash was caused by brake failure. The impact left the front of the vehicle badly damaged. Officers from the National Intelligence Bureau, Banahene and an Emergency Medical Technician Mr Brobbey were also at the scene to assist.
The Mpraeso Fire Station has urged motorists to ensure regular vehicle maintenance to prevent similar accidents.
