Two girls of the St. Louis Senior High School in Kumasi, have been caught hiding in the trunk of a private vehicle in an apparent attempt to sneak off campus premises .
The students were discovered during a routine security inspection on campus when school authorities intercepted a car suspected of making a suspicious exit.
The vehicle, which had earlier claimed to be on campus for a Bolt passenger pickup, was stopped and subjected to a random search as it attempted to leave the premises without any passenger onboard. The school’s security officers, unconvinced by the driver’s explanation, decided to carry out a thorough inspection of the car, revealing the two students concealed in the trunk.
The school’s administration has launched an internal investigation into the matter and is expected to take disciplinary action in accordance with the school’s code of conduct and Ghana Education Service regulations. The driver of the vehicle has also been handed over to the police for further interrogation.
The incident has raised concerns about student discipline and security breaches in senior high schools, particularly in single-sex boarding institutions where students are expected to remain on campus unless officially permitted to leave. School authorities are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the attempted breakout and prevent similar incidents in the future .
