The Accra Regional Police Command has arrested two suspects in connection with the violence and assaults incidents that marred the Ablekuma North parliamentary re-run held on Friday, 11th July 2025.
In a press release signed by Superintendent Juliana Obeng, Head of Public Affairs for the Accra Region, the Police named the suspects as Musah Muntari, a 46-year-old Station Manager at STC, and Ali Saeed, alias Mboma, a 43-year-old businessman. Both are currently in custody and assisting with ongoing investigations.
“The Accra Regional Police Command assures the public of its commitment to ensuring that all persons responsible for acts of violence, intimidation, or misconduct during the elections are brought to justice,” Supt. Obeng stated.
The Command further urged the public to continue cooperating with the Police by providing credible information that could aid in the investigations. “We encourage citizens to reach out to the Police via our emergency numbers 18555 or 191,” the release added.
The Ablekuma North re-run, which was held to resolve a legal and electoral dispute, was marred by skirmishes and reported assaults at certain polling stations, drawing widespread condemnation from civil society and political stakeholders.
The Police say efforts are ongoing to identify and apprehend all others involved in the disturbances.
