Two students of the Swedru School of Business (SWESBUS) who were captured in a viral video allegedly attacking a student from Obrachire Senior High Technical School have been granted bail by the Agona Swedru District Court.

The accused, Benedict Appiah and Bilal Mamid, appeared before the court on Wednesday, March 11, 2026. They were each granted bail in the sum of GH¢10,000 with two sureties.

The two students have been charged with conspiracy to commit assault and assault. However, both pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The presiding judge, Victor Kusi, subsequently adjourned the case to April 17, 2026, for further hearing.

The suspects had earlier been remanded when they were first brought before the court in connection with the alleged assault, which reportedly occurred during an inter-schools sports festival in Agona Swedru. At the time, their request for bail was rejected, and they were kept in police custody until their reappearance in court on March 11.

The incident, which gained widespread attention after a video circulated on social media, showed the SWESBUS students allegedly attacking a student from Obrachire Senior High Technical School during the sporting event.

Meanwhile, police investigations are ongoing regarding a third suspect, John Amo. Preliminary findings suggest that Amo may have been attempting to protect the victim during the incident.

Although he has not yet been formally arraigned before the court, he remains under investigation.

The Ghana Police Service in the Central Region has also directed authorities of the Swedru School of Business to present other individuals suspected to have been involved in the assault as investigations continue.
