The Adenta Circuit Court, presided over by Her Honour Angela Attachie, has remanded two women into police custody for allegedly making offensive comments about President John Dramani Mahama during a TikTok live discussion.
The accused persons, Priscilla Duah Birago, 29, a National Service personnel, and Charity Dede Tetteh, 29, a beautician, were arraigned on two counts of conspiracy to commit crime and offensive conduct conducive to breaches of the peace, contrary to Sections 23(1) and 207 of the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29).
According to the brief facts presented in court, the accused hosted a live-streamed discussion on August 6, 2025, during which they allegedly made and encouraged offensive and abusive statements against the President.
In the broadcast, they stated, among other things, that “we would have been happier if the President, H.E. John Dramani Mahama, was involved in the helicopter crash and dwarfs had eaten him up” and further claimed that “a lot of people are dying under his tenure of office.”
The prosecution explained that these remarks, deemed offensive and provocative, were likely to disturb public peace.
After the broadcast, the video was allegedly disseminated on the TikTok account of the first accused, under the username “Abena Birago.”
Law enforcement officers later arrested the two women, and forensic evidence of the live-streamed discussion was obtained to support the case.
In court, the prosecution Chief Inspector Maxwell Lanyo opposed bail, arguing that the accused persons should remain in custody while investigations continue.
The case has been adjourned to September 2, 2025.
