A 39-year-old mason, Agyei Abanga has been allegedly killed by his wife at Logre in the Nabdam district of the Upper East region.
The wife, identified as Bogpoka Abanga is reported to have hit her husband with a pestle several times on the head and locked him up in the room.
According to a family member, Mrs. Abanga after the act took her four children with her and fled to Walewale in the North East region.
The source added that, during the journey to Walewale, the first daughter told her mother she had left her belongings with her friend and went back to the family house to report the incident to her grandmother that her mother had locked up their father in the room.
Speaking to the Ghana News Agency, family head Bawa Dagal-Kurug, said, the little girl said she saw blood on the floor when their mother woke them up to follow her to Walewale.
Upon hearing what had happened, brothers of the deceased broke into the locked room and found their brother’s lifeless body on the floor in a pool of blood.
The family head later called the wife’s parent at Sheaga in the Talensi district to find out where she was but was told she was in Walewale with some other family members.
The incident was however reported to the Nabdam Police who picked the body to the Bolgatanga government hospital mortuary.
Meanwhile the family is assisting the police to get Mrs. Bogpoka Abanga arrested and prosecuted.
