The joint matriculation ceremony was first of its kind since the three institutions, Ghana Institute of Journalism [GIJ], National Film and Television Institute [NAFTI] and Ghana Institute of Languages [GIL] merged to form University of Media, Arts and Communication (UniMAC).

The total number of freshmen comprises 1,642 students from Ghana Institute of Journalism [GIJ], 146 students from Ghana Institute of Languages (GIL) and 106 students from National Film and Television Institute (NAFTI) respectively.

The Vice Chancellor of UniMAC, Prof. Kwamena Kwansah-Aidoo in his address, congratulated students for sailing through the rigorous selection process to be admitted into the university.

He urged students to make the UniMAC brand proud by excelling in their fields of endeavours.

“UniMAC has a Lebanese scholarship program which is to enable brilliant but needy Ghanaian students to access tertiary education”, Prof. K. Kwansah-Aidoo said.

He added that UniMAC NAFTI will soon begin the project on its 7-storey building that will be a first-class studio and offices, whiles UniMAC GIJ will be building its ultra-modern library.

The Vice-Chancellor disclosed that UniMAC is a member of the Ghana University Sports Association (GUSA) and encouraged students to get involved in sporting activities at UniMAC.
