The University of Media, Arts and Communication (UniMAC) has admitted 2,177 new students for the academic year, marking a significant milestone in its growing enrollment.
During the 3rd Matriculation ceremony held last Friday at UniMAC-IJ in Accra, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Eric Opoku Mensah urged the incoming students to approach their studies with commitment, perseverance, and focus.
Prof. Mensah revealed that a total of 3,663 applications were received, with 2,177 students officially admitted. The new student body includes 1,478 females and 580 males, emphasizing UniMAC’s ongoing commitment to fostering diversity and inclusivity within its academic environment.
The Vice-Chancellor, addressing the freshers, highlighted the importance of the matriculation oath, which emphasizes adherence to the university’s rules and regulations, dedication to learning, and positive contributions to the institution’s reputation. He also reassured the students of the university’s commitment to ensuring they are equipped with the skills and knowledge needed to excel in both the Ghanaian and global job markets.
UniMAC’s student body is spread across its various institutes and schools, with 1,477 students enrolled in the Institute of Journalism, 86 in the Institute of Languages, 238 in the Institute of Film and Television, and 252 in the School of Graduate Studies.
In addition to welcoming the students, Prof. Mensah introduced them to the university’s Learning Management System (LMS) and e-library, tools designed to enhance access to learning resources and facilitate better communication between students and lecturers. These advancements reflect the university’s continued focus on improving the academic experience for its growing student population.
As part of its expansion efforts, Prof. Mensah emphasized that UniMAC is investing in new facilities and technologies to support the increasing number of students and enhance the overall learning environment.
“We are committed to providing an environment where all our students, regardless of their gender or background, can thrive and succeed,” he said.
