A tragic road accident on the Sunyani-Kumasi highway in the early hours of Wednesday, March 26, 2025, claimed four lives while three others were rescued.
The incident, which occurred near the Fire Academy and Training School (FATS) at approximately 5:45 a.m., involved a commercial KIA truck (GT 5335-19) and a Toyota RAV4 (AS 4365-20). The Bechem Fire Command swiftly responded, arriving at the scene at 5:53 a.m.
Upon arrival, firefighters discovered seven victims, with four individuals trapped, three inside the RAV4 and one in the KIA truck.
The Duayaw-Nkwanta Fire Service team later joined the rescue efforts at 6:12 a.m. After an intense operation, emergency responders extricated four motionless bodies from the wreckage.
The three surviving victims were rushed to Saint John’s of God Hospital and Bechem Government Hospital for medical treatment. Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the crash.
The Ahafo Regional Fire Service continues to urge motorists to exercise caution on the roads to prevent such tragedies.
