Six persons have been confirmed dead at the El-Wak Sports Stadium in Accra during an ongoing military recruitment exercise.
A statement released and signed by the Public Affairs Department of the Ghana Armed Forces said “the incident that occurred at El Wak sports stadium this morning, Nov 12, 2025, concerning the recruitment exercise death toll remains 6.
A stampede reportedly led to the fatalities when the large crowd of thousands of people who thronged the stadium were jostled at entry points.
Several others are said to have also suffered injuries during the chaos.
The bodies of the deceased persons have been deposited at the 37 Military Hospital morgue while the injured receive treatment at the facility.
