Upper West: Residents of Kogri call on Government to fix deadly bridge

Residents of Kogri in the Jirapa Municipality of Upper West Region, have called on government to fix their only bridge in order for lives not to be lost.

Residents of Kogri in the Jirapa Municipality of Upper West Region, have called on government to fix their only bridge in order for lives not to be lost.

According to a community sympathizer of the area by name Tamimu Issah, he stated that during the raining season from April to September which is 6 Months, they have challenges crossing over to nearby communities to trade or to their farms at the other side of the community due to the gap created by a flowing river with a dense quantity of water.

Some community members added that farm produce such as groundnuts which are done cannot be transported to the Jirapa market for sale leading to post harvest losses.

The community members also added that some public sector workers such as teachers and nurses who travel there to deliver services are prevented from accessing the community due to the huge quantity of water they meet.

Mr. Tamimu Issah Stated: “I went and met this at Kogri today. The people of Kogri are in dying need for this bridge to be fixed. We are calling on all to assist us overcome this canker that has hindered the Kogri community and beyond over a number of years.”.

They called for the Member of Parliament of The Area, Mr. Cletus Seidu Dapilah to assist them in addressing the Issue temporally whilst they wait on Government to permanently address it.

The Also called on the Jirapa Municipal Assembly headed by Madam Christine Bombanye Amadu to assist in order to permanently address the situation.
