Deborah Acheampong, a third-year Public Relations student of the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) emerged victorious in the 100 metres race of the Central Region edition of the Ghana’s Fastest Human (GFH) competition held in Cape Coast on Saturday, May 27.

Deborah, who competed in the Female Seniors Category, came first with a time of 11.63 seconds ahead of Naseera Quansah of Mfantseman Girls Senior High Senior with a 11.75 seconds and the third place finisher, Pomaavmaeiam Domfe, with a 11.97s.

Deborah discovered her love for track and field at a young age, when she would enthusiastically compete in school sports events, often outrunning the other girls in her grade.

When asked about her inspiration, the promising student athlete modestly attributed her accomplishment to the unwavering support she received from her family, friends, and coach, Mohammed Ali.

Earlier this year, Deborah participated in the 27th Ghana Universities Sports Association (GUSA) Games hosted by the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in Kumasi where she gave an impressive account of her talent by qualifying for the 2023 FISU World University Games to be held in Chengdu, China.
