The United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has taken former Ghanaian Finance Minister Ken Ofori‑Atta into custody, according to an official notice released by his Ghana‑based legal representatives.

The announcement, issued on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, by Minkah‑Premo, Osei‑Bonsu, Bruce‑Cathline & Partners (MPOBB) and signed by Justice Kusi‑Minkah Premo Esq., confirms that the detention stems from issues related to Mr. Ofori‑Atta’s immigration status during his stay in the United States.
