The University Teachers Association of Ghana [UTAG] has served notice to government for an expected UTAG industrial action on the 10th January 2022.
According to UTAG, since government has fail to provide their requirements for comfortable service over three years this is what they will do.
Dr Samuel Nkumban, the president for UTAG at University of Legon chapter elaborated on the issue that the committee has to take this step to make sure that their demands are well met.
He also said UTAG never desire of beginning the new academic year with a strike action but it is rather unfortunate they have planned to go on with the strike for the betterment of its members.
Dr. Nkumban highlighted on how government’s inability to accomplish a labour market survey document target has affected the onward of the agreement.
In November 2021, UTAG requested for a copy of the labour market survey made ready for study that would have instructed them in terms of what to expect.
According to Dr. Nkumban, they were told that copy can’t be given to them because the ministry of finance, ministry of employment and labour relation have not approved it.
