The University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG) is expected to meet the National Labour Commission (NLC) and the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC) today, January 13, 2021, to settle disputes between the parties.

The purpose of the meeting is to discuss the ongoing strike by UTAG and their demand for better conditions of service.

The association have complained bitterly over the failure of stakeholders to abide by an earlier agreement, including FWSC’s delay in releasing the report of the Labour Market Survey

According to the president of UTAG, Dr. Solomon Nunoo, the despite the earlier concerns raised, UTAG is hopeful of reaching a consensus with government on resolving the issue at hand.

Speaking with JoyNews, he said the National Labour Commission (NLC ) is the only state institution the association has got, because of that, members of the association would meet them with open mind and see the way forward.

He also stated that if the commission was proactive, they would have come in to try and meditate the process, but unfortunately that did not take place.

He is optimistic that, the ruling would be in favour of UTAG.

University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG) embarked on the nationwide strike on Monday, January 10, in the quest to demand better conditions of service.
