The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration in collaboration with the Ghana Boundary Commission with funding from the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Commission in Ghana, has commissioned the rehabilitated Leklebi-Kame Health Centre at Leklebi in the Volta Region.

The Chief of Leklebi-Kame, Togbe Akatsi, in his welcome remarks expressed gratitude to the Foreign Ministry, Ghana Boundary Commission and the ECOWAS Commission in Ghana for the kind gesture and was hopeful that the health facility will enhance health care delivery in the community.

The Director of Free Movements at the ECOWAS Commission, Mr. Siaw Boateng, commended Ghana for being the first member state to utilise ECOWAS funds for the rehabilitation of a health facility.

He was optimistic that the initiative would be replicated in other regions of Ghana for the benefit of the people.

In his remarks, the Commissioner General of the Ghana Boundary Commission, Major General Emmanuel Kotia commended all the stakeholders for their contributions and urged them to continue collaborating on projects that will benefit the local community and promote cross-border movements.

On his part, the District Chief Executive of Afadjato South, Hon. James Etornam Flolu noted that the rehabilitation of the Leklebi-Kame Health Centre was a significant step towards the development of border communities.

James Etornam Flolu commended the stakeholders for their commitment to the project and encouraged the ECOWAS Commission and the Ghana Boundary Commission to continue partnering to undertake similar projects along the Ghana-Togo boundary.

The Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Hon. Kwaku Ampratwum-Sarpong stated that the renovation of the health facility will greatly enhance its capacity to provide essential health services, particularly to the members of the community.

Mr. Ampratwum-Sarpong noted that the project comes under the Cross Border Support Programme of the Economic Community of West African States which is aimed at strengthening cooperation and enhancing regional integration among people and Member States.

The rehabilitated health centre includes a maternity unit, folder room, lay-in-ward, consulting room, stores, female and male wards and a reproductive child health unit.
