The Volta Regional Police Command has intensified investigations into the robbery and killing of a mobile money vendor in Aflao with the arrest of a fifth suspect linked to the incident.

In a statement signed by Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Felix Danku of the Public Affairs Unit, Volta Region, the police confirmed that 65-year-old Happy Sewordor was apprehended on May 18, 2025, around 2:00 a.m. He is believed to be the father of Michael Sewornu, a key suspect who is already in custody for his alleged involvement in the crime.

The incident occurred on April 28, 2025, when Christopher Ahordor, a mobile money vendor, was reportedly attacked and killed during a robbery in Aflao.

During a search of Happy Sewordor’s residence, officers discovered an alarming cache of items, including four single-barrel cap guns, one locally manufactured pistol, 14 empty AAA cartridges, one BB cartridge, a quantity of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, and several tablets believed to be Tramadol. Investigations suggest that these items were moved from a property believed to belong to his son, Michael Sewornu.

Happy Sewordor was arraigned before court on May 21, 2025, and subsequently remanded into prison custody to assist with further investigations. He is expected to reappear in court on June 16, 2025.

In a related development, three more suspects—Hadi Sulley (22), Ewe Abraham alias Wale (25), and Eric Dordzinu (25)—were arrested by the Police Anti-Armed Robbery Unit at CID Headquarters in Accra on May 12, 2025, in connection with the same case.

These three were transferred to the Volta Regional Police Command on May 14, arraigned on May 19, and also remanded into prison custody. They will return to court on June 16, 2025.

Additionally, the initial three suspects arrested in the case—Korku Agboada, Utsuku Onyeso, and Michael Sewornu—were also remanded after appearing in court on May 14, 2025.

A fourth suspect, Atsu Agbagla, has been granted police enquiry bail but remains under investigation.

DSP Felix Danku, in the statement, extended appreciation to members of the public for their continued cooperation and vigilance.

“The Regional Police Command is grateful for the support received so far and reaffirms its commitment to fighting crime and ensuring the safety of all residents,” he said.
