A joint intelligence-led operation by the Volta Regional Police Intelligence Unit, the SWAT Team, Operation Motherland Taskforce, and the Aflao-based community watch group, ACTION NOW, has led to the arrest of four suspects linked to the fatal shooting of a mobile money vendor.
The suspects — Michael Sewornu, 34; Korku Agboada, 43; Atsu Agbagla, 36; and Utsuku Onyeso, 22, a Nigerian national — were picked up during a coordinated raid carried out between midnight and 2:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 10, 2025.
All four are currently in police custody and assisting with ongoing investigations.
Their arrest follows a daylight robbery that took place on April 28, 2025, around 2:15 p.m. at Gbagblakope, near the Diamond Cement Factory. During the attack, gunmen shot and killed 32-year-old Christopher Ahordo, a mobile money operator, before making away with a bag suspected to contain cash.
Authorities have commended the swift collaboration with the local watch group and emphasized the crucial role of community involvement in combating crime.
“The public’s vigilance and timely sharing of credible information remain key in ensuring safety and holding criminals accountable,” the police said in a statement.
The Ghana Police Service reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining law and order and assured the public that efforts are underway to bring all perpetrators of violent crimes to justice.
