The Ministry of Health (MoH), in collaboration with the Korea Foundation for International Healthcare (KOFIH), has inaugurated a state-of-the-art healthcare facility in Abotia Kpota, Volta Region.
The newly established center is expected to enhance healthcare delivery in the region and improve access to quality medical services for local communities.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Minister of Health Hon. Kwabena Mintah Akandoh emphasized that the facility will play a crucial role in bridging healthcare accessibility gaps, ultimately improving health outcomes in the region.
He also expressed appreciation to the Republic of South Korea for its continued support in Ghana’s development, particularly in the healthcare sector.
“This collaborative effort between the MoH and KOFIH demonstrates the Government’s commitment to strengthening Ghana’s healthcare system and improving the overall well-being of its citizens,” Hon. Akandoh stated.
The facility is equipped with modern medical technology and staffed by trained healthcare professionals. It will offer a wide range of services, including maternal and child healthcare, outpatient and inpatient care, laboratory services, and community-based health programs.
As part of the event, His Excellency Kyongsig Park, the South Korean Ambassador to Ghana, announced plans for KOFIH to expand the Ho Teaching Hospital, further strengthening healthcare infrastructure in the region.
Additionally, the ceremony marked the commissioning of a new Biomedical Engineering Unit at the Volta Regional Health Directorate. Supported by KOFIH, the unit is expected to ensure the proper maintenance and management of medical equipment, ultimately improving the efficiency of healthcare services in the region.
Hon. Akandoh reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to sustaining the facility and ensuring active community involvement in achieving Universal Health Coverage (UHC). He also paid a courtesy visit to Volta Regional Minister Hon. James Gunu, reiterating the government’s dedication to advancing healthcare infrastructure in the region.
