The Ghana Police Service has arrested a suspect in connection with the possession of large quantity of suspected narcotics following an intelligence-led operation at Akatsi in the Volta Region.
The suspect, Bukari Yakubu, was picked up at his residence at around 1:00am on Saturday, May 10, 2025, after a period of police surveillance.
According to a police statement, investigations so far have revealed that the suspect has allegedly been involved in narcotic dealings within Akatsi and its surrounding communities.
A thorough search of his home led to the discovery of ninety-two (92) slabs of a substance wrapped in yellowish material, believed to be Indian hemp. Two Royal motorbikes, suspected to be stolen, were also retrieved from the premises.
During preliminary interrogation, Yakubu reportedly admitted to ownership of the seized items.
He is currently in police custody, assisting with investigations, and is expected to be arraigned before court in the coming days.
The police say efforts are underway to uncover the full extent of the suspect’s dealings and possible accomplices.
