The police have destroyed forty [40] acres of cannabis also known as ‘wee’ farms at Liati Dafornu in the Afadjato South District of the Volta Region.
Four suspects (names withheld) including a pregnant woman who was working on the farm have been arrested by the police to assist in investigations.
The joint operation was led by the Narcotics Control Commission [NACOB] with support from the Immigration Service and the Police.
According to the Police the operation followed intelligence which led to the discovery of the large scale of cultivation of cannabis at Liati Dafornu, a village in the Afadjato South District.
The leader of the operation said the purpose of the exercise was to enforce the PNDC law 236 of 1990 section 4 Sub Section (1) which stipulates that No person shall cultivate any plant which can be used or consumed as narcotic drugs.
