The Vice President of Ghana, Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, has confirmed her participation in the upcoming Africa Energy Technology Conference 2026 (AETC 2026), scheduled to take place from May 19 to 21, 2026, at the Labadi Beach Hotel.

The conference, organized in partnership with the Ministry of Energy and Green Transition, is expected to bring together key stakeholders across the energy sector to advance discussions on innovation, investment, and sustainable energy solutions for Africa.

Her participation signals the government’s continued commitment to driving the continent’s energy transition, promoting technological innovation, and positioning Ghana as a leading hub for energy dialogue. The Vice President is expected to deliver a keynote address and engage with policymakers, industry leaders, and experts on the role of technology in expanding energy access and supporting industrial growth.

Her confirmation follows a courtesy call by AETC Founder and President, Emelia Akumah, and her team, during which discussions focused on energy access, innovation, and inclusive development. The meeting also highlighted shared priorities, including advancing opportunities for women and girls in the energy sector.

AETC 2026 will feature a series of high-level sessions across three days. Day one will focus on strategic frameworks, including policy harmonisation, cross-border finance, and digital connectivity, with participation expected from President John Dramani Mahama. The opening day will conclude with a gala dinner and trade awards night hosted by the Vice President.

Day two will centre on trade and human capital development, with discussions on intra-African commerce, service exports, and workforce mobility. A dedicated session on women and girls in energy innovation will highlight contributions by female entrepreneurs.

The final day will focus on implementation and future solutions, featuring technical sessions, deal-making platforms, and a youth spotlight aimed at empowering the next generation of energy leaders. The conference will conclude with a roadmap for advancing intra-African trade and celebrating key achievements.

Organisers say AETC 2026 is expected to attract strong participation from governments, private sector players, development partners, and technology innovators, reinforcing its status as a premier platform for shaping Africa’s energy future.
