Prof. Jane Naana Opuku-Agyemang, the Vice President of Ghana, has paid a condolence visit to the families of the victims of the boat accident that occurred on Saturday at Okumah in the Krachi West District. The Vice President, representing the government and the nation, commiserated with the community and the bereaved families.

During the visit, the Vice President donated essential items to the victims’ families, including:
– 100 bags of rice
– 10 bales of insecticide-treated mosquito nets
– 30 cartons of cooking oil
– 30 cartons of bathing soap
– 200 pieces of life jackets
– 4 bales of used clothing
– A cash donation of GHC 200,000 to the bereaved families
The Vice President also presented GHC 2,000 and 2 bottles of schnapps to the chiefs and elders for purification purposes.
Prof. Opoku-Agyemang assured the community that the state is mourning with them and urged all boat operators and passengers to wear life jackets whenever they board a boat. This tragic incident serves as a reminder of the importance of safety measures in water transportation.
The Vice President’s visit and donation demonstrate the government’s commitment to supporting the affected families and promoting safety in the community.
