Vice President of the Gambia, Badara Alieu Joof has died at age 65, President Adama Barrow announced.
Mr. Barrow on Tuesday, through his Twitter handle, revealed that his Vice President passed away after a short illness in India.
“Fellow Gambians, it is with a heavy heart that I announce the passing away of my Vice President, His Excellency, Badara Alieu Joof. The sad event took place in India after a short illness. May Allah grant him Jannahtul Firdawsi”.
Joof served as Minister of education in 2017, before appointed by Adama Barrow to be Vice President in 2022.
