The Supreme Court on Thursday, March 4, 2021 dismissed the election petition brought before it by John Dramani Mahama, the 2020 Presidential Candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

In a video sighted by myrepubliconline.com, President Nana Akufo-Addo and his Vice, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia were seen in a joyful mood after Supreme Court judgement on election petition.

Dr Bawumia after hearing the judgment stood to congratulate the president.

Former President John Dramani Mahama filed a petition at the Supreme Court to challenge the December 7, 2020, general elections presidential results declared by the Electoral Commission Chairperson Mrs. Jean Mensa.

The General Secretary of the NDC, Mr Johnson Asiedu Nketia, Dr Michael Kpessa Whyte and Robert Joseph Mettle-Nunoo mounted the witness box at the Supreme Court as the witnesses for the petitioner.

“The petitioner did not demonstrate in any way how the errors [committed by the EC] affected the declaration of the election…We have therefore no reason to order a re-run [of the polls]. We accordingly dismiss the petition,” Chief Justice, Kwasi Anin-Yeboah said
