Dr. Hanna Louisa Bissiw, CEO of the Minerals Development Fund and NDC National Women’s Organiser, has defended the physical assault on former Fisheries Minister Hawa Koomson during the violent scenes at the Ablekuma North parliamentary rerun, citing the saying, “violence begets violence.”
Speaking to Journalists, Bissiw argued that Koomson’s history of election-related violence made her a predictable target. “What didn’t Hawa Koomson do? If you live by the sword, you’ll die by the sword,” she remarked, recalling an incident where she claimed to have been assaulted by thugs allegedly led by Koomson in Ayawaso West Wuogon.
Though distancing the NDC from the attack, Bissiw speculated the assault may have stemmed from within the NPP itself. “No one sent anybody to beat her. It may even be an internal matter,” she added.
Despite the controversy, Bissiw maintained that the NDC remains committed to peace, stating, “We don’t need to create chaos—we’re already winning.”
