The government has announced the reintroduction of non-approval visas on arrival for passengers to Ghana during this festive season from Friday, December 1 to Sunday, January 14.
In a letter addressed to all airlines, the Transport Minister, Kwaku Ofori Asiamah stated that the decision, according to the Ministry, was made in consultation with the Foreign Affairs, Interior, Tourism Ministries, Ghana Immigration Service and the Ghana Tourism Authority.
“Consequently, it would be appreciated if systems are updated to reflect this new arrangement and those responsible for checking-in passengers travelling to Ghana advised not to insist on entry visas prior to their boarding,” portions of the statement read.
He recounted the benefit of this initiative after its introduction last year and its purpose is to support the government’s 10-year project “Beyond The Return”, which gives Africans in the diaspora the opportunity to “connect with their roots.”
