Vodafone Ghana has rebranded to telecel after Vodafone Group Plc (Vodafone) successfully completed the sale of its 70% shareholding in Vodafone Ghana (GTCL) to Telecel Group.
In February last year, the Chief Executive of Vodafone said, “The sale of Vodafone Ghana to Telecel Group is a further step in simplifying Vodafone’s African portfolio.
The CEO also mentioned that, the transaction received regulatory approval and agreement from the Government of Ghana which will retain its 30% minority shareholding in GTCL.
Since entering the market in 2008, Vodafone has helped to develop Ghana’s critical network infrastructure supporting customers, businesses and communities.
The official rebranding to Telecel took effect on Saturday March 9, 2024.
Meanwhile Vodafone plans to have an internal switch over on Monday March 11 and an external switch over on Tuesday March 12, 2024.
