The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Presidential Elections Committee has announced the successful completion of the nationwide voter register verification and validation exercise ahead of the party’s presidential primaries, scheduled for Saturday, January 31, 2026.

Speaking at a press conference at the party headquarters in Accra, Committee Chairman Joseph Osei-Owusu confirmed that the exercise covered all constituencies and external branches of the party.

He revealed that all presidential aspirants will receive the provisional voter register on Thursday, November 13, 2025, allowing a two-week period for verification, observations, and feedback before the final register is published.

“The nationwide voter register verification and validation exercise, encompassing all constituencies and external branches, has been successfully concluded. In the interest of full transparency and fairness, all aspirants will be furnished with the provisional register on Thursday, November 13. Two weeks will be provided for verification, observations, and feedback before finalisation,” Osei-Owusu said.

He noted that minor administrative discrepancies—such as misspelled names, omissions, and inaccurate entries—were identified but did not compromise the integrity or credibility of the register. “I am pleased to report that all such issues are currently being rectified,” he added.

The process also confirmed the removal of delegates who had passed away or forfeited their membership in line with Article 3(9)(1) of the party’s constitution.

The five aspirants contesting for the NPP flagbearer position are Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, Dr. Bryan Acheampong, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, and Kwabena Agyei Agyepong.

The Committee outlined measures to ensure transparency, including exclusive election-day security by the Ghana Police Service, strict access control at polling centres, and full oversight by the Electoral Commission (EC). The EC will supervise the printing, distribution, and monitoring of ballots and enforce operational guidelines to guarantee a credible election.

Osei-Owusu also announced upcoming meetings with aspirants, the EC, the Police, and the National Council of Elders to sign a peace pact ahead of the primaries.

He reaffirmed the Committee’s commitment to a free, fair, and transparent process conducted without fear or favour, urging party members and media to avoid spreading unverified information that could undermine confidence. “Together, we will uphold the NPP’s tradition of democratic excellence and institutional discipline,” he said.
