A heartbreaking event at Tarkwa-Simpa Police Station in Ghana’s Western Region has left a family mourning and a community searching for clarity following the death of 15-year-old Simon Obeng while in police custody.

Simon was taken into custody last Thursday after being accused of stealing gold from his employer.

He was brought to the police station by the employer’s foreman and held in the cells as investigations continued.

According to police reports, Simon was found to have taken his own life on Sunday morning, and his family was promptly informed.

Still, Simon’s loved ones are struggling to understand what happened and have raised concerns about the circumstances surrounding his death.
