A 23-year-old man has been fatally stabbed with scissors on Friday, November 15, 2024, at Bepoh, near Appiate, in the Prestea Huni Valley Municipality of the Western Region, following a penalty dispute during a school football match.

The altercation occurred during the grand finale of a school gala competition between Ehyireso Methodist JHS and Bepoh D/A JHS at Ehyireso Junction Park.

Reports indicate that tensions escalated after a penalty infringement was awarded to Bepoh D/A JHS, leading to an equalizing goal at 1-1 in the second half. Ehyireso Methodist JHS ultimately won the match through a penalty shootout.

The dispute intensified among supporters, and during the confrontation, a suspect from the Bepoh community, known by the nickname D-Black, allegedly attacked and stabbed the victim, Appiah Kwasi, multiple times with scissors.

Kwasi was rushed to Ehyireso Nkwanta Health Centre and later transferred to Bogoso Municipal Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival. His body has since been placed in the municipal morgue at Bogoso for preservation and autopsy.

The Prestea Huni Valley Municipal Police Command has arrested D-Black, the prime suspect, along with his accomplices, and has launched an investigation into the incident.
