The Ghana Police Service in the Half Assini Division has rescued a 12-year-old boy who was subjected to inhumane treatment by two adults after allegedly stealing GH¢200 at New Ankasa, a community near Elubo in the Western Region.

A video circulating on social media showed the minor tied with a nylon rope and hanging from the roof of a building while being severely beaten by two men.

The disturbing footage sparked public outrage and prompted swift police intervention.

The two suspects, identified as Issah Morro, 58, and Suleman Abdul Rashid, 27, who were seen in the viral video assaulting the boy, have since been arrested by the police.

In a statement issued and signed by Superintendent of Police Olivia E.T. Adiku, Head of the Public Affairs Unit of the Western Region Police Command, the suspects are currently in custody and assisting with investigations.

“The victim has received medical attention and has been handed over to his father,” the release stated.

The Western Regional Police Command assured the public of its commitment to protecting lives and upholding human rights.

It also urged residents to report any suspicious or harmful behavior to the nearest police station for prompt action.

“The Command assures the public of its continuous effort to ensure safety and security. We encourage the public to report any criminal or harmful activity they may witness, especially against vulnerable individuals like children,” Superintendent Adiku added.

Police investigations into the incident are ongoing.
