The Western Regional Police Command has arrested five suspects in connection with a murder linked to a chieftaincy dispute at Asemkor in the Agona Nkwanta District of the Western Region.
The incident, which occurred on 6 October 2025, claimed the life of a man identified as John Abban, a brother of the chiefs of Butre and Asemkor.
A police statement issued on Tuesday, 21 October 2025, revealed that three of the suspects — Kennedy Abor, alias Abongo, aged 30; Kojo Attah Panyi, aged 20; and Joseph Basses, aged 30 — were arrested at their hideout in Funko on 15 October 2025 after sustained intelligence operations by the Regional Police Intelligence Directorate.
The two others, who are said to be the key suspects, identified as Abraham Cudjoe, alias Yalle, aged 39, and Ekow Painstil, aged 45, were later arrested at Afuaman Ayigbe Town in the Ga West Municipality of the Greater Accra Region on 21 October 2025.
They were arrested through a joint operation between the Western and Accra Regional Intelligence Directorates.
The five suspects are currently in police custody assisting with investigations.
