Health Personnel of Osenso in the Wassa District of the Western Region have been displaced by a violent rainstorm that ripped off the entire CHPS Compound.
The health workers had most of their belongings destroyed by the heavy rains rendering them homeless.
Nana Kwaku Gyasi who is the Odikro at Osenso explained that, about 5:00pm on Monday, there was a heavy rainfall which was accompanied by a devastating storm.
According to the Odikro, the rainfall lasted for about an hour which at the end ripped off the entire CHPS Compound made up of 3 bedrooms for the nurses and the OPD.
The Odikro added that currently, the nearest health facility is the Ateiku Health Center where one has to travel not less than five kilometers distance before he or she can access medical care.
“I was informed that a heavy stormed has ripped off the roof of the CHPS Compound. I called the leaders of the town to help find an immediate solution so the nurses and doctor can work.” Nana Kwaku Gyasi, Odikro at Osenso
The Osenso Unit Committee chairman, Mr. Peter Tiekuย also disclosed that, the building that is currently being used as a CHPS Compound was rented by the community themselves.
“The one that the government started last year before the general elections has been abandoned uncompleted in the bush”. He disclosed
