A 39-year-old Coffie Francis who works at Akyempim Golden Star Wassa Mine Ltd. has allegedly bitten off the left ear of a 23-year-old bar attendant at Wassa Togbekrom in the Wassa East district of the Western region.

According to the father of the victim, Christian Duagbor, his son works at Dada’s bar in Wassa Togbekrom.

Narrating what happened, Mr. Duagbor indicated that, the bar has a DStv centre where people go to watch football matches.

He added that during a football match on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, Coffie Francis the suspect from nowhere entered the bar and started driving away all the children who were also watching the football match with their parents.

Later, the suspect even wanted to switch off the television if the children refused to leave the place.

The bar attendant who is the victim, Emmanuel Agbey also known as Jango resisted the harsh and irresponsible action by the suspect which led to a fistfight between the two.

“Coffie Francis suddenly bit off Agbey’s left ear”, Mr. Duagbor said.

Mr. Christian Duagbor further recounted that the incident was immediately reported at the Ateiku Police Station.

However, at the police station, the suspect told the police that he would pay five thousand cedis (gh5,000) to the victim’s family so that the family and the police would discontinue the case but the family disagreed.

The family is therefore appealing to the Wassa East district police commander to intervene for justice to prevail.
