The Western Central Regional Police Command has arrested a man identified as Yahaya Seidu for allegedly possessing a firearm without lawful authority.
According to police sources, the arrest took place on Wednesday, May 29, 2025, at Aponteng Krom, a community in the Western Region. Officers on patrol reportedly spotted Seidu in possession of a locally manufactured pistol. Upon questioning, he was unable to produce any legal documentation or credible explanation for carrying the weapon.
A search conducted by the officers led to the recovery of one locally fabricated pistol and two live cartridges.
The suspect is currently being held in police custody as investigations continue. Authorities say he is assisting with inquiries and will be arraigned before court in the coming days.
The Western Central Regional Police Command reiterated its commitment to clamping down on illegal arms possession, emphasizing that such acts pose a serious threat to public safety and security.
