Residents in Wassa Adansi in the Wassa Amenfi East Municipality are living in fear, following the alleged killing of a woman by her son in a shocking incident that has left residents traumatized.

The suspect, identified by residents as Yaw Brako, popularly known in the area as “2Cedis,” is alleged to have attacked and beheaded his mother under circumstances that remain unclear.

According to information gathered from residents, the incident occurred in the early hours of the day when the quiet community was suddenly thrown into confusion after screams were heard from the house where the deceased and the suspect reportedly lived.

News of the incident spread rapidly across the community, drawing scores of shocked residents to the scene. Witnesses described the development as one of the most horrifying incidents ever experienced in the area.

Some residents, who were visibly emotional, said they could not understand what could have led to such a tragic act, especially involving a mother and her son. Others claimed the suspect had, in recent times, shown signs of unusual behaviour and emotional instability, although these claims have not yet been officially confirmed by authorities.

The gruesome nature of the incident reportedly caused fear among community members, with many residents gathering in groups discussing the shocking development while others struggled to come to terms with the loss.

Residents are now calling on the Ghana Police Service and health authorities to conduct thorough investigations into the matter to establish the circumstances surrounding the killing and determine whether the suspect had any underlying mental health challenges.

Police personnel were said to have visited the scene shortly after the incident was reported. The body of the deceased has since been conveyed to a mortuary for preservation and autopsy, while the suspect is reportedly in police custody assisting investigators.

The incident has cast a heavy atmosphere of mourning over the Wassa Adansi community, with residents expressing fear, sadness, and disbelief over the tragic loss.
