Police in the Western Region have arrested three suspects in connection to a robbery that took place at the K.K Gold, a gold-buying agency in Tarkwa.
The three suspects, a Ghanaian, Togolese and Nigerian were among six armed robbers who attacked the gold-buying shop at Ackon near Tarkwa on Tuesday, April 18, 2023.
The arrested suspects Samuel Amaesh, 47, a Togolese; Ezekiel Stephen, 45, a Nigerian and Fataw Dawda, 42, a Ghanaian and the other three suspects entered the agency and subjected the workers to severe beatings at gun point.
The robbers succeeded in collecting unspecified amount of money and gold of about 108.50 grams valued at GH¢613,000 and sped off with three motor bicycles.
Information gathered indicated the Western Regional Police Command led by ACP Owusu Boampong upon hearing the incident tasked all district commanders and police intelligence directorate to be on the look out to arrest the suspects.
The Police with help from individuals around Tarkwa Banso and Esuso Boonsawire managed to locate the suspects hideout and proceeded to arrest them.
A statement from the police said two of the suspects, Samuel Amaesh and Ezekiel Stephen were arrested at their hideout at Essouso with assistance from the youth of the area.
The Police however retrieved a sack containing GH¢397,190 and 4.7 grams of gold while the third suspect was arrested on Wednesday, April 19, 2023.
All the three suspects are in police custody in Tarkwa and are expected to be arraigned before court, as the police are making efforts to apprehend the other suspects.
