Police in the Western Region have arrested one suspect in connection with a violent robbery attack on two gold-buying shops in the Mpohor District of the Takoradi Division.
The incident occurred on Saturday, August 16, 2025, around 7:30 p.m., when a group of about nine masked men, armed with a pump-action gun, stormed the shops.
The assailants reportedly made away with an unspecified amount of money and quantities of gold.
During the attack, the gang shot and wounded a 43-year-old man identified as Eric Kwofie before fleeing into a nearby bush.
Police investigators, supported by operational teams, quickly launched a manhunt for the suspects.
One individual believed to be linked to the robbery has since been arrested, while efforts are ongoing to track down the remaining accomplices.
The Takoradi Divisional Command has intensified patrols and deployed additional personnel in the area as part of measures to restore calm and ensure the safety of residents and businesses.
