The Western Regional Police Command has arrested three suspects in connection with a daylight robbery at Nyanikrom near Shama Junction on Wednesday, July 9, 2025.
The arrests followed a targeted surveillance operation, triggered by credible intelligence that the suspects—believed to have obtained insider information—were planning to rob officials of a company in the area. The robbery targeted company funds that had just been withdrawn from a bank for salary payments.
According to a police statement signed by Superintendent Olivia E.T. Adiku, Head of the Public Affairs Unit of the Western Regional Command, the incident occurred around 12:00 p.m. after company staff had withdrawn cash from a bank in Takoradi. While returning to their premises, they were attacked near Unique School Junction at Nyanikrom by assailants using a motorbike and an unregistered sedan vehicle.
“The suspects forcibly broke the vehicle’s window and made away with the cash,” the statement read.
However, a swift response by officers who had mounted surveillance in the area led to the arrest of three suspects and the recovery of One Hundred and Forty-Nine Thousand Five Hundred Ghana Cedis (GHC149,500.00).
The suspects have been identified as Francis Mensah, alias Francis Kwaw, aged 34; Ebenezer Cofie, 32; and Samuel Bentum, 35. They are currently in police custody assisting with investigations.
Police are also on the lookout for a fourth suspect, Maxwell Kofi Yeboah, a company driver who is alleged to have conspired with the robbers. He is currently at large and being pursued.
Superintendent Olivia E.T. Adiku assured the public that the Police are committed to bringing all persons involved to justice.
