Three young men suspected of being part of a robbery syndicate operating in the Tarkwa Nsuaem enclave have been arrested in Axim by the Ghana Police Service following a targeted intelligence-led operation.
The suspects — identified as Emmanuel Arthur, also known as “Possible”, aged 21; Elisha Arthur, alias “Sconzy”, aged 21; and 22-year-old David Agyarko, known as “Big Man” — were picked up from a hideout during the police raid on Monday, June 2, 2025.
A statement issued by Superintendent Olivia Ewurabena Adiku, Head of the Public Affairs Unit for the Western Regional Police Command, confirmed the arrests and noted that the suspects had been on the police radar for some time due to their alleged involvement in a string of robberies in and around Tarkwa.
“Information gathered by the police indicates that the suspects are wanted in a series of robberies within the Tarkwa Nsuaem enclave of the region,” the official statement read.
The operation, which involved plain-clothed officers and tactical teams, was executed after days of surveillance and tip-offs from local sources, police say. The suspects were located in a residence believed to have served as a safe haven after their latest operations.
Police sources indicate that preliminary investigations suggest the three suspects may be connected to recent reported attacks on travelers and business operators along the Tarkwa-Axim corridor.
According to the statement, the suspects have since been transferred to the Western Central Police Command, where further investigations are ongoing to determine the full extent of their alleged criminal activities.
