The Accra High Court has dismissed an application filed by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) seeking a stay of execution on an earlier ruling that ordered the release of withheld West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) results.
The ruling, delivered on Friday, reaffirmed the court’s previous decision, compelling WAEC to make the affected results available to students.
The examination body had initially withheld the results over allegations of exam malpractice and other irregularities.
WAEC had sought the stay of execution in an attempt to delay the enforcement of the ruling while it pursued further legal action.
The decision has been met with mixed reactions, with affected students and stakeholders welcoming the ruling as a step toward fairness and transparency in the examination process.
Meanwhile, WAEC has yet to indicate its next course of action following the court’s decision.
