Head coach of Ghana’s U-17 men’s national team, Laryea Kingston, has expressed confidence in his team ahead of the opening game of the WAFU B U-17 Cup of Nations in Accra.

The Black Starlets are set to face Ivory Coast at the University Stadium, Legon, as the competition kicks off this afternoon.

Speaking in the lead-up to the game, the former Black Stars player said his side’s preparation has so far been very good.

“We have a game plan, and you can see that it is working for us. As a technical team, whatever we wanted to achieve, this evening we will achieve it.

“There is pressure on us because since 2017, we have not been able to enter the youth championship so I know Ghanaians can’t wait to see us there and that puts more pressure on us but for us, we want the pressure to make us,” he stated.

The 43-year-old also added that they have studied their opponent very well and are ready to them on.

“We had the opportunity to see at least two of their current games against Argentina and France. We’ve seen the way when they are on the ball and their build up and we’ve found an antidote to that.”

The Black Starlets are in group A with Ivory Coast and Benin.
