The Black Princesses of Ghana opened the WAFU B U-20 Cup of Nations tournament at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, winning in style against Benin on Saturday, May 20.
Mafia Nyame put Ghana ahead with 15 minutes to the end of the first half, after she calmly collected Comfort Yeboah’s cross into the 18-yard box, to place it at the top corner of the post.
The Princesses were in total control, as they continued to create chances just before the end of first half, but went into the break with a 1-0 lead.
Yussif Basigi’s side added a second goal on the 61st minute through substitute Mary Amponsah, before captain of the side, Stella Nyamekye also made it 3-0 with a beautiful free-kick on the 68th minute.
The Black Princesses managed the game efficiently till the end of the 90 minutes, as they take top spot in group A.
Ghana’s next game will be against Ivory Coast on May 27, 2023.
